In these days of uncertainty, I’ve been soaking in Romans 5:20-21 lately.———
It says: God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- God’s law

[His bedrock moral principles are implanted in the consciences of all men and women].
- was given so that all people could see how sinful they were,
[The conscience recognizes how self-indulgence dominates the human mind].
- but as people sinned more and more,
[Self-indulgence exponentially infects our lives and others].
- God’s wonderful grace became more abundant
[No one can comprehend or adequately describe the magnitude and impact of God sending his son to live and die like a common man, then rise again as God].

One simple word describes his cosmic masterplan that bonds mercy to every cell in a living soul:
Grace.
Through a childlike commitment to Jesus, “grace” alters the context (the DNA) of every circumstance and turns hopeless evil to ultimate good.

Like a powerful tsunami that carries a grain of sand and places it elsewhere, God overwhelms us with grace, and carries us to his precise place of purpose.
- So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead
[Grace umpires and presides over a believer, canceling out the sentence of spiritual death].
- giving us right standing with God
[God gives us his full favor and forgiveness]
- and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
[we never need to fear death again].
God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
