Isa. 64:4: Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.

In other words, his way of deliverance will shock you. You will find no logic in it. Acting on your behalf has its origins in God’s character, not in your living a mistake-free, doubt-free life. If you think you deserve God’s love because of your effort to be a good Christian, think again.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

We have never and never will (in the future) deserve saving. We will never rate high enough to deserve the benefits of being children of God. We will never live a good enough life to deserve his shocking deliverance. The power of God’s grace impacts our lives beyond our effort. It is present, available and REAL. The Way is marked plainly in the Bible, his word to us.
