Hush Up

When we keep quiet rather than yield to impulse;

when we resist our right to express outrage;

when we stanch our urge to correct someone;

when we deny our craving to be understood;

when we zip our lips, though we stand on the moral high ground;

when we leave vindication to God…

Our act of KEEPING SILENT equals OBEDIENCE to Christ.

To spectators we may appear as a doormat when we hold our peace—but our prudent silence peals like thunder in the throne room of God. Jesus attends to our requests when we ask HIM to intercede. [Heb. 7:25]

We may wrestle with sorrow, or confusion, or even anger as we wait for resolution—but God encourages us to “Be silent before the LORD…, for he is springing into action from his holy dwelling.” [Zech. 2:13 NLV]

And remember Solomon’s caution: …opening your mouth can ruin everything. [Prov.13:3]

When words are many, sin is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise. [Prov. 10:19]
