The Devil visited an elderly man at his kitchen table one morning.
“Old Timer, do you remember the date you committed your life to God’s son, Jesus?”
The man thought hard, and realized that he could not recall.

“I was very young,” he said.
“Then, are you certain that you will go to heaven when you die? If you cannot recall the date of your conversion, how do you know?” Perhaps you and I are chained to the same destiny…”
The old man smiled.
“Here is how I know that I am destined to be with Jesus in heaven when I take my last breath:
“God says: …HE CHOSE ME IN HIM BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD to be holy and blameless in his sight. (Eph. 1:4).
This means that my destiny was written by the Creator of the Universe long before I was born.”
The old man sipped his coffee.
“This truth gives me confidence that I have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised me before the world began. (Titus 1:2)
So that’s MY destiny, Devil. Beat it, and let me drink my coffee in peace!”
