Obsess or Rest?

For followers of Christ, DUE DILIGENCE is our “conscientious effort to serve God in a given circumstance.”

But what happens when we have exhausted our due diligence—when all that we CAN do has been done? When all options have been tried? When our minds feel drained of ideas? When our resources cannot deliver resolution? When all that we have left is our faith?

Be encouraged! Our faith carries on when due diligence wears out.

…for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (I John 5:4)

After due diligence: CEASE STRIVING (Be still).

Cease striving and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psa. 46:10 NASB)

After due diligence: WAIT.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. (Psa. 27:14 NIV)

After due diligence: STAND.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. (I Cor. 16:13 NIV)

After due diligence: LISTEN.

[Jesus says:] My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)

After due diligence: REST.

[Jesus tells us:] “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30)

Cease striving. Wait. Stand. Listen. Rest.

You have done your due diligence. Stop obsessing. Start RESTING.

“God’s got this.”
