Too Many Elephants?

When an Asian ruler wished to honor a subject, he rewarded the person with a beautiful and highly-valued gift: an elephant.

But if a subject displeased the king, the ruler delivered 10 elephants to the person. All of a family’s resources had to be reallocated to care for too many elephants.

How many elephants are we caring for? How much time, worry, and money do we “require” to guard and maintain our lifestyles: houses, credit cards, vehicles, bank accounts, businesses and entertainments?

It takes as much ambition and discipline to detach from an overwhelming lifestyle as it did to acquire it. But it’s worth the effort.

Are you tired of shoveling out stalls for too many elephants? It’s time to sell off some of the herd. Ask God for wisdom on how to SIMPLIFY.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5)

But godliness with contentment is great gain. (I Tim. 6:6)

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36)
